3 Keys to Passing The CPA Exam
Hi friends!
There are so many CPA candidates asking me advice on how to study and pass this one of the most difficult professional exams.
In my opinion, to pass the CPA exam, there are 3 factors that play an important role.
First, understand the concepts.
A lot of CPA candidates try to memorize things that are on the review course. While it's impossible to memorize everything without actually understanding it, trying to memorize everything will drain so much energy out of you so you may eventually lose motivation and confident in the CPA exam journey.
On the other hand, I know it's very difficult to understand so many accounting concepts within a short period of time. And that's why I created the CPA exam review notes which include concise, to the point and easy-to-digest knowledge point summaries to help students understand the accounting concepts in a clearer and easier way. The CPA exam review notes have helped hundreds of CPA candidates pass the exam. Also, the feedback on the review notes received from CPA candidates are very promising. The students love that the CPA exam review notes break down the hardest concepts to basic explanations and provide easy-to-understand examples to illustrate the complex knowledge points. The CPA exam review notes would be a great supplement to study in addition to any main CPA exam review course you may have.
Second, do as many practice questions as you can.
Practice, practice, practice! There is no better way to prep for the CPA exam than doing the practice questions. Even if you have not fully understood the concepts, do not feel intimidate doing the practice questions.
I would like to share my experience on how the practice questions helped me pass the exam. There were so many times I found myself start to grasp the concepts ONLY after I did the practice questions and read the answers and explanations to the questions, which might have provided me with a different prospective to understand the materials other than only listening to the lecture at the first place; and I think doing the practice questions also helped me get a sense of how the exam might actually test for specific accounting concepts.
Moreover, doing practice questions can also help enforce the memory of the study materials.
If you find yourself still have a hard time understand the concepts after doing the practice questions, that's completely okay! It's normal to have to spend some extra time to digest the knowledge. If that's the case, then that specific topic may be your weakness. Once figure out your weakness, you can then read the topic or listen to the lecture again. Also, there are so many resources on the Internet about everything nowadays. Simply google the topic and I promise you can find many articles and/or videos that can help you understand the knowledge.
Third, believe in yourself!
Part of the game is to convince your conscience to believe that you can pass the exam. Listen to the lectures, understand the concepts, do the practice questions (and do whatever you think it may take) to convince your conscience; and you will find yourself on the path becoming the next prospective CPA.
Now you have it! I hope the 3 things I mentioned above will help you in any way in your CPA exam journey.
Best of luck, future CPA!
